About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Hard Rain is a snapshot of Bob Dylan's fabled Rolling Thunder Revue, a traveling circus that was more notable for its excess and character than the music. There are some new interpretations along the lines of what appeared on Before the Flood. A few of the new versions hit home and Dylan is generally spirited throughout. Great short set from Rolling Thunderby JohnQ

July 15, 2009: One of the newer Bootleg Series covers the Rolling Thunder concerts but that does not replace this sweet set, only compliments it. This has Dylan doing some serious Rockin on a few classic tunes. This is a joy even if its only long enough to tease.

I Also Recommend: The Bootleg Series 5: Live 1975.

One Great Songby glauver

March 10, 2009: THe first 40 minutes of this album are up and down. Some of the songs connect and some don't. the mix is odd, and the band is a bit scruffy. But then Idiot Wind begans and Dylan gives possibly his greatest live performance. For the next 10 minutes he spews venom and anger and transforms the song from its original on Blood on the Tracks. This is the rare CD that is essential for one song. Live 1975 is a better recording of Rolling Thunder but none of its tracks hits the heights of Idiot Wind.
