March 16, 2008: I have heard the opera Semele already but this recording stands out for me because of the cast,the conductor and orchestra. This is a superb recording of one of Handel's opera. First of all, Rosemary Joshua is fantastic. Too long we have been listening to singers who's voices sound so muddy and hazy that we no longer really hear the splendor of the music and the words...When one listens to Ms.Joshua,You are stunned by the clarity,color and precision of the Soprano voice..She also has a great dept of emotion when she sings..Just listen to her- Oh,Sleep-Why dost thou leave me..And you are put in a trance. I highly recommend this disc.It will make all Baroque lovers be in bliss..It is harmonious to listen to in the morning and at night..Enjoy.
