Compared to the all-live Kid A extra disc and the grab-bag of Amnesiac bonus material, the addendum on EMI's 2009 expanded reissue of Hail to the Thief is a more conventional collection of B-sides and rarities. Of course, this is partially down to the source material: Radiohead released three singles from Hail to the Thief, which is more than either of its predecessors, so there were more stray tracks to round up. Many of these were either instrumentals or remixes, with the notable exception of the tense, tightly wound "Paperbag Writer," the moody acoustic "Gagging Order," and the slow, blues-tinged crawl of "I Am a Wicked Child," three cuts that stand out against the murky atmosphere that surrounds them, atmosphere that intrigues but doesn't quite tantalize. The rest of the disc is rounded out by live performances. [A triple-disc set adds a DVD containing five promo videos ("There There," "Go to Sleep," "2+2=5," "Sit Down, Stand Up," and a live "2+2=5"), and a four-track set from Later...With Jools Holland from May 2003.] Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
