Editorial Reviews

A brilliant adaptation, both touching and hilarious, of Damon Runyon's stories about New York in its heyday, Guys and Dolls features a magnificent score by one of Broadway’s greats, Frank Loesser. It would be difficult for a show to lose with such numbers as “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” “If I Were a Bell,” “Luck, Be a Lady Tonight,” and “I’ll Know.” Guys and Dolls, it goes without saying, didn’t fail, becoming one of the biggest Broadway hits of its time. The first-rate cast of the original production, as captured on this classic cast album, includes Robert Alda, Stubby Kaye, and Vivian Blaine. In all, it's one for the ages. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

June 28, 2007: it's a good soundtrack with the bonus tracks being the highlights. i was wondering though, is there a copy of the movie soundtrack around anywhere? if they have these bonus tracks, they must certainly have the rest of the tracks from the movie, right? i would really like the movie soundtrack with Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, and Vivian Blaine

April 04, 2007: Guys and Dolls is an underated masterpiece. This CD is a great piece of history to own. It's very interesting to compare the tracks from the 50's film version to the broadway score. Marlon Brando and Jean Peters, not known for their singing ability do a very nice job of it. You won't regret buying it.
