About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

The first of three blues albums recorded after a four-year studio hiatus finds Winter as fleet-fingered as before and sounding more vocally involved than in some of the later Columbia material. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide

"Guitar-Slinging" at it's Finestby tomcollins

October 15, 2009: If you need convincing that this guy is one of the best blues guitar players alive, then this CD is for you. With each cut, you understand why the term "scorching" is reserved for Johnny Winter. But there is also versatility here. The slow ballad "You Can Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" has a heart-melting guitar solo. "Lights Out" is good old rock 'n' roll that make Chuck Berry sound like he's playing a ukelele. And the guitar work on "Boot Hill"...you've got to hear it to believe it.
