The liner notes to this CD reissue don't give an original release date, but it's most likely from the 1950s, as that was when the Panegyris ensemble toured in the United States. It's a lively, well-recorded repertoire of popular dances and folk songs, touching on the more exuberant and melancholy manifestations of the genre. The arrangements utilize many of the string, wind, and percussion instruments common to Greek folk music, such as the pipiza, defi, santouri (dulcimer), and lute. Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
