About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

This is a killer one-disc overview of Rita Coolidge's hits. It contains 17 of her biggest songs -- "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher," "One Fine Day," "Don't Cry Out Loud" -- as well as some exceptional minor ones, including the late Danny Whitten's "I Don't Want to Talk About It," "Fever," and Boz Scaggs' amazing "We're All Alone." What this proves, simply, is no matter who her producer was, no matter who wrote the songs, no matter the studio musicians, Coolidge is that rare brand of vocalist who can deliver a song in a new and authoritative manner without artifice or contrivance, simply with her natural gifts. This is a fantastic introduction as well as a document of one of the 1970s and '80s great artists. Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
