About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 rounds up the handful of singles that weren't included on Elton John's first Greatest Hits collection ("Levon," "Tiny Dancer") and adds the highlights from Caribou, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, and Rock of the Westies ("The Bitch Is Back," "Someone Saved My Life Tonight," "Island Girl," "Grow Some Funk of Your Own," "I Feel Like a Bullet [In the Gun of Robert Ford]"), plus two non-LP hit singles ("Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Philadelphia Freedom") and John's version of "Pinball Wizard," taken from the soundtrack to Tommy. In short, it's an excellent continuation of the first collection, and taken together, they function as an ideal singles retrospective of the most successful singles artist of the early '70s. March 04, 2005: "Greatest Hits, Vol. 2" picks up where "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" left off, including songs of Elton's from the mid 1970's. The way this CD is set up now is a lot different from the version I have. On my version, instead of "Tiny Dancer", it has "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word", and instead of "I Feel Like a Bullet", it has "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". Neither of these versions are perfect. The only way this compilation would have been perfected would have been if they just put "Tiny Dancer" in place of "Grow Some Funk of Your Own". Still, it's a great collection since all the songs are catchy just like any Elton John song could be. This compilation is reccomended for die hard fans or owners of "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" who want to continue through Elton's decade of hits.
