It seems somehow absurd that it's taken inspirational singer/songwriter Twila Paris so long to release a greatest-hits collection. In a career spanning two decades, she's had plenty of time to release plenty of hits -- and win Female Vocalist of the Year honors from the Gospel Music Association. Time & Again has a lot of ground to cover to make up for that shortfall, then, and with 18 tracks, cover ground it does. Paris's strength lies in her ability to morph from sweet, inspirational chanteuse to sugary pop diva. Paris wrote and performed praise-and-worship music long before it was cool, but she's also sunk her teeth into a pop anthem like "God Is In Control" and taken it to No. 1 along the way. All of these many faces of Twila are found on Time & Again: early highlights such as "He Is Exalted" from her 1985 Kingdom Seekers release share space with a signature hit, "God Is In Control." We also have the folksy "Joy of the Lord," the light AC pop of "Run to You," and Paris's power ballad duet with Steven Curtis Chapman, "Faithful Friend." As if that weren't enough, we're treated to not one but three new songs, making this a delicious greatest-hits collection, indeed. Lisa Zhito, Barnes & Noble
