This luscious collection of gospel hits from Pastor Shirley Caesar takes a brief look at some of the powerhouse singer's best-loved performances. While it's no doubt difficult to give a long-lived artist such as Caesar her due, 15 tracks seems awfully thin. That said, Greatest Gospel Hits thankfully includes some true nuggets, including Grammy winners "Sailin' on the Sea of Your Love," "Rejoice," "You Can Make It," and "He's Working It Out for You." Caesar's live recordings ({|Live in Chicago...|} and He Will Come) are universally praised; Hits includes three stellar live tracks from these releases: "God Is Good," "Hold My Mule," and "Heaven." All are impassioned performances that show off Caesar's amazing vocal prowess. On top of that, you get to have church with Pastor Shirley in your living room. What's not to love?
