Danny Howells has been known for smuggling funky goods into the staunchly monochromatic coalition of progressive dance, sometimes within ten-hour sets, but his two-CD NuBreed mix is milder than his usual work. It's rough tech-house without the floor-packing energy, using DJ Dan, Echomen, 16B, Meat Beat Manifesto, and his own Science Dept for 120 BPM-styled mood warpage. The result is narrowly danceable; something best played at low volumes when you notice the days are getting colder and shorter. A bit too indistinct to make many return visits. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide All Music Guide
