This energetic (and sometimes frenetic) label sampler suffers mainly from its enforced schizophrenia. While it kicks off with the in-yer-face punkiness of Rancid's "The Brothels," there's far less punk, Oi!, hardcore, and bar band crunch than the title, package, and label name would indicate. The majority of the album, in fact, consists of various flavors of ska straight out of the Two-Tone catalog, capped by a visit from The Skatalites. Given the price, mind you, it isn't a bad deal; just be prepared for a musical experience as confusing as the average Bad Brains album. Steven McDonald, All Music Guide
