Editorial Reviews

The original soundtrack to Sylvester Stallone's disappointing remake of Get Carter features a mix of pop, electronica, and trip-hop that was meant to help update the film. Though it just added to the movie's contrived feel, this collection of songs from Delerium, Twelve Tone, Groove Armada, and Mint Royale is surprisingly successful on its own. Soundtrack king Moby's "Memory Gospel," Red Snapper's "Quicktemper," Paul Oakenfold's "Descents," and Air's "Brakes On" are some of the highlights from the album, which also includes Jellybean's "Jingle Bells," Faye Wong's "Love & Strangers," and Roy Budd's "Theme From Get Carter." While this collection is a bit of a mixed bag -- as most soundtracks are -- Get Carter's music manages to be much more entertaining than the film that inspired it. Heather Phares, All Music Guide
