September 24, 2003: Rob Dougan is the unofficial poster boy for The Matrix Trilogy as he has made songs that appear in most of the crucial scenes. His first song "Clubbed to Death" and the remix of it "Chatau" (which appears on the Reloaded ost, when Neo fights in the weapon room) are two of his best songs. The title track (furious angels) can be heard in The Matrix Reloaded when Neo fights the "upgrades". Dougan's voice is a nice blend of Sting and Sinatra, while his tracks all have a Portishead vibe to them. The sultry voice of the female leads of groups like Portishead and Curve have been replaced with the raspy, unconventional voice of Dougan, who sings each song with a passion that must be heard (such as "Left me for Dead", and "One and the Same"). Very acid jazzy and very cool. Most of the tracks here are backed by a full orchestra, which actually works with this type of music(PNYC-Portishead Live in NY anyone?) and complements Dougan's unique vision of the album which itself is very classy and refined. I envision this album being played at an uber modern sexy bar/lounge that has no inhibitions, where the wine flows, the people are beautiful, and the bouncers won't let you in. This album is a breath of fresh air as it introduces a new genre of music, I just wish it had a name. Visit his official web site @ robdougan.com to get an idea of what i'm talkin about...
