About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Apparently in an attempt to find new sounds that would appeal to a new audience, Bonnie Raitt severed her ties with her comeback producer, Don Was, for Fundamental, hiring those masterminds of experimental adult pop, Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake. Froom and Blake have worked with a number of singer/songwriters and roots musicians -- including Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Richard Thompson, Los Lobos, and Crowded House. There are good songs scattered throughout the record, and Raitt remains a vital artist. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

August 13, 2001: Very underated CD for 1998, too many people just didn't get what Bonnie was doing on this one. I was really happy she decided to loosen up and give us ''FUNDAMENTAL''., ''Spit of Love'', ''Cure for love'', ''Lover's Will'', and the great ghost blues ''Round and Round'' are all wonderful songs.. Little did we know what was to happen to Bonnie's personal life, these songs are not about happiness and love and trust with a partner its almost fitting, especially the moving ''One belief Away'' seems to spell it all out. Radio and VHI really did not support this effort as they should have but I'm sure glad she experimented with these sounds and gave us this most unusual, funky, blues pop/rock cd.

January 09, 2001: As a long time Bonnie Raitt fan, I was really looking forword to her latest release.I was disappointed. There are a few decent songs on this album, but for the most part it is an experimental album that never really finds its purpose.
