About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Full House is a smoking little date by Wes Montgomery backed by the Wynton Kelly trio, with Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb along with Johnny Griffin on tenor. Compiled from a multi-night stand at the Full House, it showcases Montgomery's complete comfort with the entire tradition whether it be standards, as evidenced by Harold Arlen's "Come Rain or Come Shine," Alan Lerner's "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," or bop tunes like Dizzy Gillespie's burner "Blue 'n' Boogie." Montgomery contributes a number of his own tunes to the program as well including the taut Latin workout "Cariba." The CD version has been remastered and includes five alternate versions for four of the set's six tunes. This one is certainly Montgomery at his best. Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
