The bulk of this excellent album of Dixieland standards features pianist Art Hodes in a sextet with trumpeter Nappy Trottier, trombonist George Brunies (who also sings "Angry") and clarinetist Volly De Faut. Since recording opportunities for these musicians and for traditional jazz in particular were pretty rare in 1968, Delmark documented some very valuable music in this relaxed session. The LP is rounded out by two alternate takes left from a quartet date that Hodes did during about the same period of time with the swing veteran clarinetist Barney Bigard. Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
