June 28, 2004: I've been listening to virtue since '97. What i originally liked about them was the fact that their songs are fun. 'Virtue!' was a great album because it was fresh and pretty much set the mood for the year with my family. 'Get Ready!' was more soulful and brought vocals superior to the first album. 'Virtuosity' was fun and allowed the listener to go through whatever mood, really. It was moving. Spotty, but moving. Free is the perfect Virtue album in my opinion. 'Only god's in this' is a gospel version of some of the club bumpers on the radio today with a good message and an even greater intent. Giving christians something clean to listen to. It's fun though it could be a bit faster. 'Healin' follows suit but with a mood that's even better for just listening wherever you may be. The lyrics hit hard if you let them to. It's an honest song. It also shows off the chemistry virtue pulls off between lead and backing vocals. 'Jesus paid the ransom' is a song that i could do with out. It follows to closely to the above mentioned and isn't as melodic as i prefer most of my music to be. I skip it and go straight to the next song. 'Free' is the powerhouse of the album. It's meoldic and danceable at once. And i like the message. 'Thankful' is unique. It's possitive and soft. 'You'll win if you try' has some amazing vocals on it. Heather and Karima are at their best on this one. heather especially shows a lot of improvement. 'Lord, i lift my hands' is like an amazing praise and worship song. it's just beautiful. the three sisters have wonderful chemistry. the leads are flawless, the harmonies are incredibly strong and the message gets straight to the point. 'Worthy' follows the same path. but it's really churchy more than straight praise and worship. the backing vocals, in my opinion are just as good as the lead and could have even stood on their own. 'You just be you' is one of those sweet guitar songs. it's really positive and pretty. this seems like a song that heather especially had fun singing. 'He's able' is just...wow. i try not to use this term alot, but this song is "cool". I honestly can't describe it. The words(around the bridge in particular) really touched me. 'Everything will be alright' is stylized. and as far as the message. the title says it all. 'Open arms' is by far the most emotional track for me. i think a lot of people could benefit from hearing this. heather sang home at the end. 'Nothing else i can do' had karima's best performance. it's all her. just a ministering song.
