Stage and screen director and choreographer Bob Fosse earned an unprecedented eight Tony Awards for his choreography on a string of groundbreaking Broadway musicals, including THE PAJAMA GAME, SWEET CHARITY, and PIPPIN. Now his inimitable work is reborn via FOSSE, a scintillating revue that reprises many of the master's stage and film showstoppers including "I Wanna Be a Dancin' Man" from the 1978 hit DANCIN' and Tin Pan Alley classics "Who's Sorry Now" and "There'll Be Some Changes Made," utilized in Fosse's semiautobiographical film,"All That Jazz." Although FOSSE is primarily a cavalcade of dances onstage, the cast album captures the show's visceral energy and sensual appeal through effective arrangements and atmospheric effects - - the burst of brass that announces "Big Spender," the sibilant hisses of "Steam Heat," and the omnipresent shushing of the drummer's high hat - - that imaginatively evoke Fosse's unseen signature style.
