Another volume in Decca's lifestyle classical music series, For a Lazy Afternoon collects 16 relaxing pieces such as Pachelbel's "Canon in D," Bach's "Largo From Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra in D Minor," and Corelli's "Adagio- Allegro-Adagio From Concerto Grosso in G Minor." Vivaldi's "Air From Water Music Suite No. 1 in F" and Mozart's "Adagio From Clarinet Concerto in A, K622" are some of the album's particularly soothing compositions, while Handel's "The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" and Bach's "Badinerie From Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B" add a bit of liveliness. More compositions by Bach, Mozart, Handel, and Vivaldi round out For a Lazy Afternoon, giving the collection a flowing, cohesive grace that some of the more eclectic entries in this series lack. Overall, For a Lazy Afternoon is a soothing, sophisticated collection that's a perfect musical backdrop for reading, napping, and any other lazy afternoon activities. Heather Phares, All Music Guide
