Another volume in Decca's lifestyle classical music series, For a Beautiful Day collects classical pieces that are lively and lovely, including Mozart's "Allegro from Serenade No. 13 in G, K525 Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," Purcell's "Rondeau from Abdelazar," and Ravel's "Menuet from Le Trombeau de Couperin." The compositions of Puccini and Dvorák are well represented on For a Beautiful Day, with "O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi" and "Musetta's Waltz Song from La Bohčme" from the former and "Slavonic Dance No. 2 in E Minor" and "Largo from Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95 From the New World" from the latter, helping to give the collection its pretty, relaxed feel. Also included are Elgar's "Chanson de Matin, Op. 15, No. 2," Warlock's "Basse-Dance from Capriol Suite," and Bach's "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor BWV 582." While this collection is indeed perfect For a Beautiful Day, its lovely melodies are also apt for any other occasion where beautiful music is needed. Heather Phares, All Music Guide
