These spare jigs and reels have the feeling of music played in an Irish hall rather than a pub: they are somewhat staid, but lovely nonetheless. The mix of solo and group pieces is pleasing, but there seems to be a more academic approach to the recording, making it a bit too restrained. Tim Sheridan, All Music Guide
