There are 126 themes and film cues included in this budget-priced import set. All of them except for the final cut were written by the great Italian composer Nino Rota, and were featured in the films of director Federico Fellini. There is little info included here except for titles, so for the novice who is just getting into Rota for the first time, this may be a bit out of context. One thing the set does have going for it is that these are not interpretations, but the actual orchestral and chamber music from the soundtracks themselves. This is not just some generic orchestra playing the composer's pieces. Rota himself conducted everything here. The recordings have been cleaned up considerably to make for a delightful hour of listening. Some of this music is hard to find on CD even now, therefore serious collectors might want to have a look and a listen. Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
