About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

At their best moments, the Fatback Band were untouchable. There were moments in the group's canon where everything just seemed to fall into place, as if divine intervention was looking over the studio. Fatbackin' covers some of these moments, compiling cuts of gold from their first three records on Perception (they later signed to Polydor in the mid-'70s). Obvious nods to the sound of the time aside, Fatback had the system down -- taking influences from their contemporaries, filtering them with a Latin flair and proto-disco shuffle, and making something uniquely their own. Most of these records are hard to find and out of print, so Fatback fans will want to pick this one up, because it's simply essential. Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
