About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Third season American Idol winner Fantasia sets the tone quickly on her sophomore disc with "Hood Boy," a track spiced by a cameo from Big Boi and a Supremes sample that the soul diva uses to position herself as both a sassy round-the-way girl and a tender lover. Fantasia's emboldened, no-nonsense attitude is captured on the sweat-inducing workout "Baby Makin' Hips" -- anchored by a brassy Al Green sample and her raspy vocal swagger, Fantasia sings the praises of sisters like herself with "a walk so mean she'll bring you to your knees." As on her 2004 debut, Free Yourself, the southern soul singer once again enlists an impressive roster of high-powered collaborators including Missy Elliott, Jermaine Dupri, and Rodney Jerkins. The Missy-produced "Two Weeks Notice" is a classic soul-leaning slow jam that doubles as a stern kiss-off to an unappreciative lover. Elsewhere, Fantasia serves notice to straying men on the funky dis "Bore Me (Yawn)." Even so, Fantasia proves she has a softer side on the starry-eyed "When I See You," the self-affirming, Dianne Warren-penned ballad "I Feel Beautiful," featuring musical accompaniment by Babyface, and the infectious, Swizz Beatz-produced "Surround Me." Two years after winning the American Idol crown, Fantasia's star is still on the rise. Dave Gil de Rubio, Barnes & Noble

January 07, 2007: I loved fantasia's first album and was hoping she would live up to that one. This second album is sooo good. She has found her niche and is one of the few female singers who can take control of a song and not let the beat and background control them. She shows her versatility in her voice and sings about what most females feel. Bottom line: Go buy it- you will not be disappointed.

January 02, 2007: With this CD, Fantasia has made a statement. This woman is showing that she wants to make good music and is here for the long run. This is a better CD than her first. I can listen to it from start to finish. If you're truly looking for some real R&B/Hip Hop with Soul than this is the CD for you. Fantasia took some risk. There is alot of creativity. I love how she shows us what she is really all about. I hear growth and confidence. Her voice is strong and she proves that she can sing with tracks that have a hard beat as well as those powerful slow jams. It's truly outstanding!!
