About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Adriana Calcanhoto is one of the best artists of the new generation of pop music in Brazil. This is her third album and her most sincere effort. Bringing her compositions and partnerships along with renditions of songs by established composers such as Chico Buarque (the beautiful, haunting, and modern melody of "Morro Dois Irmãos"), she evidently is searching for her self expression within the marketable industry concept, but at the same time she is displaying a desire of independence faced with commercial formulas. This desire is best translated in the lyrics and in her attitude, which try to establish a connection with the concrete poetry of Augusto de Campos (who participated in one track). Musically, the album is almost completely devoid of commercial clichés, but she is limited to simpler harmonies/melodies. After all, she is a pop star, and her catchy, sensitive melodies stand far above the average in this sector. Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
