About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Big, bold, and brassy, Everything You Want for Christmas is a swinging holiday dance party, full of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's characteristic good humor and cheerful rowdiness. While BBVD slow down occasionally -- for a bluesy "Merry Christmas Baby," a gentle "Blue Christmas," and a stately instrumental version of "We Three Kings" -- they spend most of their time with exuberant, horn-driven arrangements of Christmas classics and several worthy originals. Guitarist and vocalist Scotty Morris contributes the aptly titled "Rockabilly Christmas" (Carl Perkins would be proud) and two amusing narratives: "Last Night (I Went Out with Santa Claus)" -- turns out Santa parties hard -- and "Christmastime in Tinsel Town." They resurrect "Mr. Heatmiser" from the '70s Claymation TV special The Year Without Santa Claus (it's a thumping, cool-cat strut) and bound through "Jingle Bells (Cha Cha)" and the Louis Armstrong classic "Is Zat You Santa Claus?" Everything You Want for Christmas has its roots in big-band swing and early rock 'n' roll, but there's nothing nostalgic about Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's energetic and joyful performances. November 26, 2007: If you've ever had that not-so-cheery-Christmas feeling, you NEED this cd. Once it starts, you can't help but to start dancing or at least tapping your foot, for those true grinches out there. Throw it on in the kitchen whlkie tediously baking those cookies, and before you know it, your done! I love this cd. It's the first one on every year!
