Editorial Reviews

This collection of tunes from the animated comedy/baseball adventure film Everyone's Hero runs the gamut from contemporary country (Brooks & Dunn) to the urban sounds of Wyclef Jean, precocious American Idol loser Paris Bennett, and ex-Cosby Show scene stealer Raven-Symoné. As expected, the material leans toward the sentimental and the stoic (Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik is particularly and painfully emotive on the Hallmark-kissed "The Best"), but upbeat cuts from Chris Botti and Lyle Lovett ("Chicago (That Toddling Town)"), a cover of Dire Straits "The Bug" from Mary Chapin Carpenter, and composer John Debney's Randy Newman-inspired score keeps this ball game from going into extra innings.
