French folk star Maxime Le Forestier collected together 30 years' worth of music for his best-of collection, and the 20 songs he chose are a great representation of his career. With every song acting as a delicate web of plucked strings and Le Forestier's aching voice, the music here is fluid and consistent in a way that few other musicians can muster. Unlike American folk musicians from the same period, Le Forestier is a moody balladeer who prefers to croon a lonely tune than give into intense sentimentality or political barbs.
