About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

With four previously unreleased performances and two Italian versions of hit songs, Encores, Sarah Brightman’s new collection of theater tunes, has its share of rarities. While there are familiar takes on material from Phantom of the Opera (“Think of Me”), Sunset Boulevard (“Surrender”), Aspects of Love (“There Is More to Love”), By Jeeves (“Half a Moment”), and Song and Dance (“The Last Man in My Life”), Brightman also chimes in with renditions of songs from such lesser-known productions as Rex and The Crooked Mile. Unreleased material includes memorable performances drawn from Whistle Down the Wind, East Is East, Carmelina, Saturday Night, and La Rondine. Rendered in Italian are the signature songs “With One Look” ( Sunset Boulevard) and “Memory” (Cats). Brightman handles it all with the stylish aplomb, interpretive sensitivity, and larger-than-life verve that her fans have grown to cherish. William Pearl, Barnes & Noble

May 05, 2002: From her opening track of ''whistle down the wind'' to the last soothing notes of that italian song at the end, Sarah Brightman mesmerized the living hell out of this diehard fan. My ears have never been so happy since I was in my mother's womb. Five stars does not begin to sum up the measure of my adoration for Ms. Brightman's work. She is truly the angel of music!! (note the added exclamation point). I hear that, on first listening to this record, Pavarotti cursed and stormed into his dressing room, vowing never to sing again. Those who speak italian heard him mutter, ''there is nothing left to sing. The woman has eclipsed perfection.''
