About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

John Williams's score from Steven Spielberg's generally overlooked EMPIRE OF THE SUN includes a variety of unforgettable thematic material, ranging from evocative lyricism ("Cadillac of the Skies") to quiet, poignant meditations that capture the shifting moods of a British child growing up in a WWII Japanese internment camp. This latter element is addressed in several chorale pieces, from the plaintive "Suo Gan" to the joyous "Exsultate Justi." In all, a memorable and moving work from one of the movies' great composers. May 19, 2008: The music is absolutely beautiful! Suo Gan, which is a Welsh lullaby, and Exsultate Iusti are my two favourites. I highly recommend this for any classical and choral music lovers.
