About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Organ-piano duet recordings are quite rare in jazz history, making this successful collaboration rather historical in its own way. It is particularly interesting to hear pianist Michel Petrucciani, who usually dominates his own recordings, being matched up with and inspired by an equal. Organist Eddy Louiss proved to the perfect choice for this date. The duo performs originals that are often quite boppish along with three standards. Louiss' comping and basslines really push the pianist, while Petrucciani (who gets to show off his expert skills as an accompanist) constantly sets a fire under Louiss during this live date. The interplay between the pair is quite exciting and they have plenty of torrid tradeoffs. It's a highly recommended disc. Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
