About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

After a multi-album detour into ensemble playing and lullabies, including her touching Beautiful Dreamer, pianist Robin Spielberg returns with a solo album of original works that paint breathtaking inner and outer landscapes. Spielberg's dynamic touch can evoke impressionistic images: dreams of summer flowers in the depth of winter ("Dreaming of Summer"), delicate snow flurries and crystalline stillness ("Forgiving Winter"), the tip-toe silent mistiness of the wee hours ("2 AM Gardener"), or a soaring soundtrack for nocturnal adventures ("Flying"). As Spielberg explains, she's derived ample emotional fodder for her creations from friendship, the steadfast love of her husband, and pensive moments in the surgery waiting room. Her playing is so expressive that flowers often seem to bloom through the stereo speakers. This is a lovely album for playing in the background, but don't be surprised if Dreaming of Summer lures you into a sunny reverie. Carol Wright, Barnes & Noble

October 16, 2000: ''This is the ninth CD from pianist Robin Spielberg and after eight CDs on North Star, Robin is now on her own playMountain Music independent label. Dreaming of Summer is a dozen track collection of piano solos, with the first eleven being original compositions from east coaster Robin Spielberg, and the final track, listed as 'bonus track', intended to be a surprise for her many concert goers. The bonus track alone is worth having the CD for....it is Robin's interpretation of Pachelbel's 'Canon', a popular classical piece with heightened popularity in the early 80's due to the movie Ordinary People....Her five and a half minute finale allows for plenty of building on the songs melody. 'Wherever You Go' could easily be an uplifting movie theme with a melody of encouragement. 'Wedding on the Mountain,' written for actor William H. Macy and his wife Felicity, is another melodic standout as are 'One Last Look' and 'Turn the page.' 'The 2am Gardener' makes good use of minor tones and left and right hand separation to create intriguing imagery. (Robin Spielberg) is a wonderful talent...''
