About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

It's an interesting irony that as Ziggy Marley's singing voice ages and becomes more and more similar to that of his late father, the music he makes gets more and more distant from the reggae mainstream. And on Dragonfly, his first album without the Melody Makers, his explorations go even further afield, leading him to spend far more time with hip-hop beats and spare rock & roll than one-drop reggae grooves. There are plenty of great beats and well-crafted instrumental textures (thanks in part to such high-profile guest musicians as Flea, David Lindley, and DJ Chris Kilmore), with "Looking," with its lilting highlife guitars, standing as a highlight. May 22, 2009: I have only had this CD for a couple of days now, but I can't seem to take it out of the CD player. I am hooked!

Great melodies, lovely message, Ziggy brings out the spirit of his father while still maintaining his own style.

A must have.

May 09, 2003: I was a fan of early Ziggy Marley efforts but drifted as many of his CD's seemed to fail to break new ground. Then Spirit of Music was released and that CD is his strongest and a really great CD very worthy of having the Marley name on it. This CD is a good follow up to that CD. I doesn't sound much different that a Melody Makers CD but it does show growth and that Ziggy is not a kid anymore.
