Editorial Reviews

The full-length follow-up to their debut EP, Boys on the Docks, Boston's Dropkick Murphys serve up an interesting blend of hardcore-style punk with traditional Irish inflections on Do or Die. Steve Huey, All Music Guide

February 23, 2009: I'll admit, I picked his up after hearing "Shipping Up to Boston" in The Departed - and also to get charged up for a trip to Boston to see a Bruins game next month. First listen I thought it was all right. Second listen I liked it more. By the third listen I knew I had a keeper. So often my favorite albums are the ones that had to grow on me.

This album would be in danger of seeming a bit cliche, if it weren't for the fact that the Dropkicks are so sincere about what they do. I am looking forward to my next Dropkicks acquisition.

I have to add -it has been a great addition to my running playlist.

January 08, 2005: This is a very good album. I would agree with this "true punk" guy or whatever on the fact that you should only buy this album if you have listened to this band before, simply because it is not as "refined" as their later work. However, it is amazing. And i have something to say to this so-called "punk" writing reviews. You disappoint me. You are making dropkick fans look like ignorant fools with this "I'm punker than you" stuff. You are attacking people before you know them. Dropkick music is not about excluding people, it is about forming an alliance with people who like the music and the values of the group. And, if you are recommending MxPx and sum41 and calling other people posers, you need to rethink your view on "punk". On a lighter note, this album is awesome and i would recommend it to anyone interested in dropkick murphys.
