About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Mariah Carey certainly knows how to construct an album. Positioning herself directly between urban R&B with tracks like "Fantasy," and adult contemporary with songs like "One Sweet Day," a duet with Boyz II Men, Carey appeals to both audiences equally because of the sheer amount of craft and hard work she puts into her albums. Daydream is her best record to date, featuring a consistently strong selection of songs and a remarkably impassioned performance by Carey. A few of the songs are second-rate -- particularly the cover of Journey's "Open Arms" -- but Daydream demonstrates that Carey continues to perfect her craft and that she has earned her status as an R&B/pop diva. July 21, 2005: I Truly love Mariah she is my all time favorit female singer with Celine and Whitney and this album is one of my fave Mariah albums ever. 1.Fantasy #1 single and Mariah´s 9th no #1 hit this song is a great opening and brings new fans to her. 2.Underneath The Stars 3.33 a sweet ballad co-written by Walter Afanasieff her longtime collaborator. 3.One Sweet Day 4.41 a duet with BoysIIMen a special favorit and a lovesong about lost love a love that died suddenly and you meet again in heaven and Mariah´s 10th number #1 single it stayed 16 weeks on the hot 100 billboard charts from it´s debut in late 1995-1996 another Walter A collaboration. 4.Open Arms 3.25 Mariah covered this classic that Journey did famous in the 70´s Walter A produced it. 5.Always Be My baby 4.18 Mariah´s 11th no#1 hit single and her third one from this album that is incredible how does she do it a young producer named Jermaine Dupri then 22 of age co-wrote it with Mariah and they became writing partners and today their song We Belong Together is Mariah´s biggest number ever also her 16th number#1 single. 6.I Am Free 3.09 a sweet song about freedom another Walter A collaboration. 7.When I Saw You 4.24 another Walter A ballad and this song is wonderful i love it very much. 8.Long Ago 4.39 Jermaine dupri co-wrote this song it´s pretty good. 9.Melt Away 3.40 a sweetballad co-produced by Babyface he lends his voice in the chorus. 10.Forever 4.00 a 50´s popballad i love this song so much Mariah brings out the best in her voice in the end another classic that Walter A did with her. 11.Daydream Interlude a mix of fantasy it´s a clubbanger. 12.Looking in 3.36 a sad ballad that brings tears to your eyes an emotional song also a Walter A classic. Mariah and Walter were a great team it´s sad that they have seperate ways i hope that someday they will come together in the near future who knowes. I also wish that this album had more songs it is only 44 minutes long. If you enjoy Mariah´s new album you will love this one and her older projects her voice shows off her magical vocalrange of 7 stunning octaves that only god can give.

September 15, 2003: She's a good singer but it seems like when it came to the late 90s her style changed and her outter appearance went from a singer that depends on skills to a singer that depends on looks. ALso her songs aren't as good as the years went by. It would be better if she went back to her old style durring the early to mid 90s with a more decent outter appearance.
