About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Featuring disturbing cover art from H.R. Giger, Danzig's third album continues to expand the band's musical range; rather than pounding away at simple blues riffs, the atmospheric title track (yet another rewrite of "Twist of Cain," this time at a slower tempo) and the haunting ballad "Sistinas" attempt to match their music with the darkness of Glenn Danzig's lyrics, resulting in two of the album's high points. Danzig's vocals are more subtle in places, and John Christ's guitar work continues to improve. Arguably the definitive Danzig album. Steve Huey, All Music Guide

October 16, 2005: How the gods kill is in my top three favorite albums, along with Walk Among Us and November Coming Fire. This is Danzig's masterpiece, his mona lisa, or whatever. I love this album, and i listen to it at least once a day. It is by far the darkest of his albums, and the cover art by h.r. giger is very creepy and screwed up, and it makes it all the better. Best metal album ever, and maybe the best album ever.

September 23, 2005: this album is definetely danzig's best album and one of Glenn's best along with Walk Among Us and Initium. the darkness that surronds this album left me in awe with danzig screaming or even sometimes whispering his infinite frustration with the christian religion a must have for any metal or punk lover a classic in rock history
