Cradle of Filth's third full-length is another slab of uncompromising black metal, a darkly melodramatic opus where the song titles alone ("Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids," "The Twisted Nails of Faith," and "Lustmord and Wargasm [The Lick of Carnivorous Winds]") tell almost the entire story; fans of the genre will embrace Cruelty and the Beast, but the unconverted are likely to find it all rather silly. February 13, 2006: It just amazes me how Cradle Of Filth can make such good, catchy and ever so darkly songs. This cd is based on the Blood Countess,Elizabeth Bathory,whom bathed in blood to seek eternal youth and beauty. Dani really set the tone of her cruel, tragic life through the music,making her rein of terror once again... remembered.Cruelty and The Beast,It's a great album, I definetly reccomend this to any Cradle Of Filth fan.You'll enjoy the elegance of the classical music,the darkness of Dani's screams,and the enchanting lyrics, all who make Cradle of Filth such a great Black Metal Band.It's simply a well composed album.

December 07, 2003: I recomend this cd to any goth who has a thing for clasical music and black metal because it has that and more it is a perfect display of showmanship artistic merrit and a whole lot of kick a** music the vocials will send splinters of pleasureful shivers up and down your spine my favoret song is Beneath the Howling Stars.
