About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Bauhaus reunited for a tour and released the Crackle compilation in the U.S. The band initially claimed that Crackle was an American edition of 1979-1983: Vol. 2, which was never released in the U.S., but less than half of the songs appear on both collections. Which means, of course, that Crackle shouldn't be viewed as a compilation for collectors -- instead, it's an excellent single-disc overview of the group's brief career, containing all of their essential songs, from "In the Flat Field" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" to "Ziggy Stardust" and "Burning From the Inside." Hardcore fans may wish there was something special about the comp -- the only thing new is the perfectly adequate remastering -- but it's nice that there's finally a thorough single-disc retrospective of the groundbreaking goth quartet. Goth greatness indeed.by Anonymous

April 15, 2006: I purchased this CD in anticipation of the band's summer tour with Nine Inch Nails. I have a ticket to the show in Milwaukee, and wanted to become familiar with Peter Murphy and the group before the show. In a word: whoa. Some spooky, sinister stuff here would make even Trent Reznor tremble. Black eyeliner and lipstick wearers will love this greatest hits set chock full of cobweb and fog-infested anthems. Perfect for a rainy evening alone in your bedroom with that one candle burning reverently on your nightstand.

December 10, 2000: Well this c.d is like the best of the Bauhaus which are the first true gothic band which if you here this band very hard you can tell that the cure copied their style and many others too.
