About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Raffi is something of an heir to the children's music of such folkies as Pete Seeger and the Babysitters. In Corner Grocery Store and Other Singable Songs, he is especially interested in adapting some familiar folksongs -- "Pick a Bale o' Cotton," "Goodnight Irene" -- as children's songs, along with such traditional material as "Frère Jacques." He has a light, bouncy singing style that is irresistible to children and parents alike. Ages 3-7. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide

November 25, 2002: These songs are very silly and singable. The title track, "Corner Grocery Store" is a Raffi classic and so funny. "Popcorn," "Boom Boom" and "Here Sits a monkey" are so funny, too. I just loved listening to this CD growing up. Some songs are gentle for snuggling and dancing, like "You'll Sing a Song," "Frere Jacques" and "Rock-A-Bye Baby." Some songs make me think about the happy days of growing up, like "My Way Home" and "Going on a Picnic." This is a very happy CD that brings back great memories. Highly recommended for your child(ren)!

June 19, 2001: I enjoyed my children's and my special time with Raffi. Now I enjoy these times with my grandchildren. The joy of Raffi's music never dulls with the years gone by. He has enriched us all.
