About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Yes, she's an introspective, often challenging female singer/songwriter from the Great White North -- but don't think that Chantal Kreviazuk is merely following in the footsteps of Alanis Morissette. For one thing, she's more prone to melodic, piano-driven melodies than all-out guitar-rock; for another, she's far more capable of catching the ear with a lovely vocal lilt. On COLOUR MOVING AND STILL, her second album, the multiple Juno winner -- that's the Canadian version of the Grammy Awards, if you're wondering -- shows considerable range, stepping into breathy trip-hop on "Until We Die" and letting pop at its purest flower on "Before You." Appropriately enough, given the album's title, COLOUR MOVING AND STILL is rife with vivid emotional snapshots -- from the tender "M" to the empowering "Eve" -- and packed with memorable melodies that are evocative and lingering enough to retain their freshness through a full season's listening, and beyond. June 19, 2000: Chantal's amazing voice, powerful lyrics and talented piano playing all combine to create a deeply moving and inspirational song. Inspired by the death of a young girl, 'M', a new marriage, 'Until we Die' & 'Before You', and a convesation with a homeless man 'Blue' this album will touch every part of the human spirit. The album is full of rich texutres of music surrounded by layers or powerful vocals. Chantal's amazing piano playing is at the root of each song. This album with both inspire and provoke many thoughts among any body who listens
