In 2006, the Collectables label reissued the first six albums by Graham Central Station, and they also released this box set containing the first four albums in a "deluxe wooden box." The box itself is a sturdy flip-top object with absolutely no markings and is sheathed in a flimsy wraparound cover -- a cover that is attached at the base by Scotch tape. Thankfully, the discs come in their original jewel cases. The difference in the cost of the box versus the four individual discs is not significant. At any rate, this is a quick -- if heavy -- way to obtain a handful of decent-to-good '70s funk albums. Even when the material comes up short, Larry Graham's popping basslines command attention.
