About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Bond, the comely string-playing foursome, return to combine classical technique with high-wattage dance beats on their third album, Classified. Following their now-familiar M.O., the group pay homage to classical masters on several tracks by mixing familiar themes with pulsating percussion and pop-style production. "Lullaby" takes Pachelbel's Canon to new heights; "Hungarian" is a scorching version of a Brahms Gypsy dance; Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake theme inspires the atmospheric "Midnight Garden"; "Adagio for Strings" spikes Barber's well-known music with jungle rhythms; "Señorita" adds edgy beats to Bizet's "Habañera"; and Khachaturian's "Saber Dance" gets electrified on the madcap "Highly Strung." Other contemporary tracks, "Samba" and "Scorchio," spice the album with Latin and Middle Eastern flavors, adding to the eclectic, international feel. A cover of the disco classic "Fly Robin Fly" features a surprising departure -- vocals -- for the instrumental sirens, while "Explosive," the opening track repeated as a closing remix, would fit right in as the soundtrack for a James Bond action sequence. What's in a name? Seems these four have all the answers. EJ Johnson, Barnes & Noble
