About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

Kenny G may never find himself ranked with saxophone greats like Lester Young and John Coltrane, but he has found a voice on saxophone as instantly recognizable as any horn player alive. Now he's proven he knows a great song when he hears one. CLASSICS IN THE KEY OF G finds the listener-friendly saxman caressing some of the greatest popular standards of the jazz repertoire. Ranging from masterful compositions of the 1930s - - Gershwin's "Summertime," Arlen's "Over The Rainbow," "Body and Soul" -- to classic jazz tunes -- Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood," Monk's "Round Midnight" - - to bossa nova - - Jobim's "Desafinado," Bacharach's "The Look of Love" - - CLASSICS reveals the versatile nature of the hit-making G-man. And, thanks to the miracle of modern technology, there's even a "duet" with Louis Armstrong on "What a Wonderful World." Don't get rid of your Stan Getz albums quite yet, just let Kenny G have his own say on classics he obviously loves. Seth Kaufman, Barnes & Noble

February 05, 2003: I was so thrilled, when I first got this CD, to see one of my favorite songs of all time, "Stranger On the Shore." If you don't already have it, I highly recommend it! I play the tenor saxophone & Bb clarinet, & someday I want to make an album of all of Kenny G's greatest songs. I'm so glad that he's made this CD, so that none of these classics will ever be forgotten. Kenny is a living legend. I can't wait to hear more of his mesmorizing music!
