About This Item

Classical Beatles is a two-CD compilation of cover versions of more than 40 beloved Beatles songs in vocal, instrumental, and orchestral arrangements, performed by leading classical groups. The roster of ensembles includes The King's Singers, The Vienna Boys' Choir, Kindred Spirits, and The Swingle Singers, as well as Lesley Garrett singing "For No One" and "Blackbird" with orchestral acompaniment arranged and conducted by the Beatles' original producer Sir George Martin.

Among the instrumental performers are the guitarists Manuel Barrueco and David Tanenbaum and the piano duo of Rostal and Schaefer, as well as the Baroque Chamber Orchestra under Richard Edlinger playing several ingenious orchestral versions of Beatles songs arranged in the manner of Vivaldi and Bach. Also included is a clever pastiche called the Beatle Cracker Suite, in which seven Beatles songs are presented in the manner of Tchaikovsky's famous Nutcracker Suite.

The final work on the set is the magnificent Beatles Concerto, arranged by John Rutter, in which the pianists Rostal and Schaefer play nine Beatles songs in the grand Romantic manner of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Grieg, with accompaniment by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Ron Goodwin.

January 03, 2009: This the worst interpretations of the beatles best songs,I have ever heard I my life! the Vienna boys choir butchered All you need is love. Yesterday was the first song all so performed horrible. I've heard the worst Beatles tribute bands sing the beatles better than all the singers on this cd. Beatles fans beware don't buy this unless you want your ears to start bleeding for the worst voices on earth. If you want good cd with real beatles songs by the beatles get love or Betles One it's a very good recent Beatles release buy that or any other Beatles cds just not this one. In my closing statemant Beatles Fans Beware!
