About this Artist

Editorial Reviews

If you believe that nothin' says Christmas quite like a big bowl of home-brewed whiskey (with a l'il eggnog chaser), then this is the holiday album you've been waiting for. The 11 songs contained herein readily live up to the promise of delivering a family-style Christmas for fans of both the sacred and the profane. Perhaps the biggest surprise on Christmas Time Again is the ease with which the Skynyrd family handles the former element, turning out lovely, faithful versions of holiday standards such as "Greensleeves" and matching those with subdued originals like guitarist Rick Medlocke's "Classical Christmas." Of course, you don't come to the house of Skynyrd expecting to sit idly in your rocking chair -- and the band gooses listeners into action with raucous renditions of "Run, Run Rudolph" and "Santa's Messin' with the Kid." Since it's billed as a family outing, there are also contributions from members of the extended Skynyrd family, including the Charlie Daniels Band's "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" and .38 Special's "Hallelujah, It's Christmas." It's tough to properly balance the spirit of the honky-tonk and that of the holiday, but leave it to the l'il ol' band from Florida to get it right. David Sprague, Barnes & Noble
