World-wide, Gregorian has sold over 3 million albums, there have been countless sold-out tours, and Gregorian has been the recipient of more than 20 Gold and Platinum awards. Gregorian is regarded as one of the most successful musical groups of their genre.
After their 1999 debut, Gregorian Masters of Chant (The Original) quickly morphed into a genuine brand of contemporary music--often imitated but never duplicated. With "Christmas Chants" , renowned international music producer, Frank Peterson, adds to a well-stocked list of releases with a holiday themed album.
The repertoire ranges from pure classical ("Ave Maria" and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu") to English traditional Christmas carols, "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "The First Noel". Contemporary works such as "Peace On Earth/The Little Drummer Boy" (David Bowie/Bing Crosby) and Cat Steven's classic "Morning Has Broken" reworked as the Christmas song "Child In A Manger" are also included. An original composition by Gregorian founder, Frank Peterson ("Footsteps In The Snow" ) adds a nice dimension of "new" to this collection of beloved holiday favorites.
Female guest stars include world-renowned soprano, Sarah Brightman (When A Child is Born) and her equally talented and beautiful sister, Amelia Brightman. Amelia has lent her vocals to many of Gregorian's albums, is credited as a frequent collaborator on the original Gregorian compositions and has guest starred with the choir during many of their sold-out tours in Germany and other European countries.
"Christmas Chants" is certain to find its way into your hearts and family holiday traditions for many years to come!
