About This Item

Michael Battle's debut CD, Chopin After Midnight, features 11 of Chopin's finest works for piano -- a selection of preludes, waltzes, nocturnes, and the well-known "Fantasie-Impromptu." Rachmaninoff's celebrated C-sharp Minor Prelude and Battle's own "Carol" fill out the CD, available exclusively through Barnes and Noble.

Battle, a native New Yorker born in 1984, holds degrees in piano performance from schools in New York and London and also pursues a career in acting.

January 11, 2010: I have never bought Classical music before, having been raised on Country. But when I heard this amazing piano music playing in the Cafe at my local Barnes & Noble, I was completely blown away! I've heard Chopin before, but Battle truly brings the music to life, infusing it with so much feeling that...well, beautiful doesn't do it justice. I was heartbroken that the store was sold out...I just had to have it! I have no idea what Classical music buffs will think of Michael Battle, but I can tell you he's won over this simple Country gal.

November 19, 2009: I bought this purely on recommendation from the BN site. It is amazing. What depth for such a young looking artist. Although his musical choices were classical, he put a refreshing, emotional and current translation to songs done by many. I look forward to seeing how this young man develops as a talent and artist.

I am back to buy more as gifts for the holidays. I highly recommend this CD.
