Editorial Reviews

Priority's Chart Toppers series is an excellent budget-line collection, offering a strong selection of 15 original hits, grouped by a specific theme and decade, on each disc. Chart Toppers: Rock Hits of the 60's combines rock & roll, British Invasion, girl group, blue-eyed soul, hard-rock, garage rock, psychedelic, folk-rock, R&B, soul, surf and pop-rock hits -- an eclectic bunch, to say the least, but the variety helps capture the feeling of the decade. A few of the songs haven't dated well, but for the most part, the selection of songs is terrific, albeit a little predictable. Among the highlights on the disc are the Kinks' "You Really Got Me," Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride," the Troggs' "Wild Thing," Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place to Go," Booker T. & the MGs' "Green Onions," the Zombies' "She's Not There," Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law," Status Quo's "Pictures of Matchstick Men," the Turtles' "Happy Together" and the Box Tops' "The Letter."
