October 04, 2009: Cesare Valletti was a lyric tenor with an incredible insight for giving each role that he sang the perfect interpretation. This Testament release features Valletti's Town Hall Recitals from 1959 and 1960. In addition, two song recitals that he recorded for RCA Victor in 1958 is a wonderful bonus. He is a consummate artist, and each word he sings is extremely meaningful. The voice is sweet and transluscent. Occassionally, in the upper reaches, the voice tends to whiten under pressure, but the tone is penetrating enough to carry through a large opera house or concert hall. The transfer is very clear, and the reaction from the audience is joy to hear. Add this treasure to your classical collection.
